PAINT & SIP

People can create a “masterpiece” at the Paint & Sip event sponsored by the Arts & Crafts Center. The following date and theme is planned:

▪ Sept. 7: Rainy Night

TEEN CUISINE

Teens come explore and learn the basics of cooking at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at Teen Cuisine Night at the Youth Center. SEPT. 8

TEEN ESCAPE ROOM

Ready to crack the code, find the clues, solve the puzzles and discover the riddles and escape in 60 minutes or less? If so, join Youth Programs Sept. 8 for Teen Escape Room night in St. Louis. KIDS CRUMBS & CANVAS

FOOTBALL FANTATICS AT ZEPPELINS

Attention football fans ... it’s Football Fanatics time at Zeppelins (Scott Event Center). People can follow their favorite team all season with NFL Sunday Ticket at Zeppelins. Kickoff is at 11 a.m. each Sunday. More than $3,000 in prizes will be awarded throughout the season. Prizes include a Smart TV, LaZBoy Recliner and more. 9-11 MEMORIAL RUN

ARCHERY CLINIC 101 REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Learn the basics of archery Sept. 12 with Outdoor Recreation. Staff will teach correct stance, proper use of recurve bow or compound bow, and proper shooting techniques. Bows, arrows and instruction provided. Registration deadline is Sept. 10.

INDOOR KART RACING REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Experience indoor go-kart racing at Pole Position Raceway Sept. 14 with Outdoor Recreation. Race friends with karts reaching speeds up to 45 miles per hour. Registration deadline is Sept. 10.

BLOOD DRIVE

The next American Red Cross Blood Drive will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 11 at 702 Hangar Road on Scott Air Force Base. Refreshments will be provided. TANDEM SKYDIVE REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Join Outdoor Recreation for their Tandem Sky Dive Sept. 19. Experience the views of Carlyle Lake while flying 120 mph in the air. Spots are limited. Professional instructors provided. Registration deadline is Sept. 12.

UNDERGROUND KAYAK REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Join Outdoor Recreation on its popular trip to Crystal City Underground for a three-hour underground kayaking tour Sept. 15. Trip requires one tight passageway, and is not suitable for claustrophobic individuals. Lunch afterward (individual’s cost). Difficulty rating: 3/5. Registration deadline is Sept. 13.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Sept. 14 at Zeppelins Food & Drinks First Friday Hispanic Heritage Celebration. Party starts at 3 p.m. All food is free. TEEN SNACKS & SPLATS

PBA PROFESSIONALS TO TEACH BOWLING CLINIC

PBA professionals will be on hand to help people with their bowling game and provide general tips Sept. 15 at the Stars & Strikes Bowling Center during the Bowling Revolutions Clinic. The youth clinic will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and the adult training will be from 2-5 p.m. From 1-2 p.m., the professionals will give a physical game presentation. TEXAS HOLD’EM

The Scott Event Center will host a Texas Hold’em Tournament Sept. 15. POW/MIA RECOGNITION CEREMONY IN O’FALLON

VFW Post 805 in O’Fallon will host the 27th Annual POW/MIA Recognition Ceremony Sept. 17 at 221 W. 1st St., O’Fallon. Each year, the Scott POW/MIA Council invites former prisoners-of-war and their family members living in the St. Louis metro and metro-east areas, along with leaders from both Scott Air Force Base and the local community, to honor those who were held as POWs as well as those who are still listed as missing. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and lasts approximately one hour. A complementary barbecue for guests begins at 11 a.m. Expected attendance at the event is approximately 300.

LEAVE NO TRACE CLINIC

The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers will present a hands-on, age-appropriate, workshop teaching kids and adults how to protect the outdoor places they love by enjoying them responsibly and ethically. Students will learn what to bring and what to know before they go outdoors, how to build a Leave No Trace campfire and put it out, plus so much more. MOBILE DMV

Need to renew a license plate sticker, but can’t make it to the DMV? Catch the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles mobile unit from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Scott Event Center. The DMV Mobile Unit offers basic vehicle services, such as driver license renewals (including road tests), ID cards and vehicle registration, and is available for the SAFB community every third Wednesday of the month. The mobile DMV accepts all major credit/debit cards, check and money orders ... cash is not an accepted payment. For more details, call 256-5501.

PRETEEN CARNIVAL DANCE AT YOUTH CENTER

Learn the basics of Clothing Layering Sept. 26 with Outdoor Recreation for fall and winter outdoor activities. This two-hour class teaches the difference in material type, when to wear what material, how to layer to perfect breathability and more. Class held at Outdoor Recreation, Bldg. 3176. OVERNIGHT BACKPACKING REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Join Outdoor Recreation on a 10-mile overnight backpacking adventure at Meramec State Park Sept. 29-30. Load up the gear and hike five miles to camp, eat dinner at the campfire, and camp under the stars. Wake for breakfast and hike back. People need to bring their own gear or rent it from Outdoor Recreation. Registration deadline is Sept. 24.

FALL FESTIVAL

BASE BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP (DATE CHANGE)

The Stars and Strikes Bowling Center will host the 2018 Base Championship at 2 p.m. Oct. 6. All bowlers will bowl five qualifying games and the top bowlers will battle it out to determine the champion. FRIDAY NIGHT HOOPS

Boys and girls are invited to play Friday Night Hoops at 7 p.m. Sept. 7, 14 and 28. This is open to two separate age groups: Preteens 9-12 years and teens 13-18 years. FREE MOVIES AT THE LIBRARY AUDITORIUM

NOTES

375TH SFS MASS RESET, REGISTRATION

The 375th Security Forces Squadron will be conducting a mass reset and registration of the Vascular Hand Scanner at the Metrolink and Lincoln Landing pedestrian gates. Here is the pertinent information:

▪ Metrolink: 6-8 a.m. Sept. 18 and 3-5 p.m. Sept. 20; and

▪ Lincoln Landing: 6-8 a.m. Sept. 25.

All access will be removed the day prior to the registration and personnel will be required to re-register during the appointed times to regain access. Personnel without 24/7 access will not be registered with the Vascular Scanner and will use the phone located at the gates to contact BDOC to be granted access.
