Saturday, Jan. 25

Ice Skating Night

Teens & pre-teens ages 9-18, are invited to dinner and an evening skate at Steinberg Skating Rink in Forest Park. Buses depart the Youth Center at 4:30 p.m. with a stop for dinner prior to skating. Bus returns at approximately 9:30 p.m. Cost: $25 members, $30 non-members. Registration required. Steinberg Rink is a cash-only establishment. ATM available. For more details, call 618-256-5139.

Friday night hoops

Boys and girls are invited to play Friday night hoops Jan. 31. Feb. 7, Feb. 21, and Feb. 28. Open to two separate age groups: Pre-teens 9-12 years (6-9 p.m.) and teens 13-18 yrs (8-10 p.m.). Teams are co-ed. Bring friends to join. Friday night hoops is free and open to all eligible members of the Youth Center. Teens must still be in high school. For more details, call 618-256-5139.

Big game football party

Catch the Super Bowl during the big game party at Zeppelins. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Open to all ranks. A 65” Smart TV will be awarded to a club member. Attendance prizes. Unlimited buffet from 5-7:30 p.m. $15 members or $16 non-members (one trip, $8 members, $9 non-members). Enjoy drink specials: Bud Light mini-pitchers, $4, or Bud buckets (five), $10. Chalk couture DIY towel

Scott Event Center will host chalk couture DIY towel at 6:30 p.m. What is chalk couture? It’s a way of using chalk paste to create DIY home décor. DIY towel — includes four towels, instruction and supplies (sizes, colors, and designs vary). Plus, each participant gets a glass of wine or non-alcoholic alternative, and light snacks. First Friday Mardi Gras

Job fair/on-the-spot Interviews

The 375th Force Support Squadron is hosting a job fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cardinal Creek Golf Course. Bring resume for on-the-spot interviews. Open Non-Appropriated Fund positions include laborers, recreation aids, guest services reps, cooks, food service workers, Child & Youth Program assistants, custodial workers, waiters, lifeguards, supervisory lifeguard, cashier/checker, tractor operator and more. Wednesday, Feb. 12

Comedian/magician Mike Bliss coming to Scott AFB

Mike Bliss, master magician and comedian, will perform at 6 p.m. at the Scott Event Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. Prior to the show, from 4-6 p.m., the Scott Event Center will have a taco bar meal for only $7.95 for adult club members ($8.95 for non-members) and $4.95 for ages 12 & under. Friday, Feb. 14

Valentine’s Day 5K walk/run

A Valentine’s Day 5K walk/run will take place at 11:30 a.m. at Warrior Park (run/walk begins and ends here). The event is free for the entire Scott AFB community. Chocolate prize baskets will be awarded to the first, second and third place finishers and there will also be random prize drawings. Sweetheart bowling tournament

Stars & Strikes Bowling Center will host a sweetheart bowling tournament beginning at 6 p.m. Bowl three games of 9-pin no tap scotch doubles. Chance to win prizes. Fee: $35/couple — includes bowling, shoe rental, large pizza and unlimited soda. Bring friends. Pay $45 for two couples; get all the goods plus one more large pizza. Registration required. Pre-teen Valentine dance

Paint & sip

Arts & Crafts Center will host a paint and sip event from 6-8 p.m. Theme is couples “lock & key” project. Cost is $35 per person or $60 per couple and includes all painting supplies. Youth Programs Art & Craft Show

Scott AFB Youth Program’s encourages all youth, ages 5-18, to participate in the Youth Programs Art & Craft Show set for Feb. 17-21. This event provides youth the opportunity to express themselves creatively, build confidence, and learn new visual art skills, while showcasing the artwork of Youth Program members in the community.

There are 13 categories to enter — monochromatic drawing, multi-colored drawing, pastel, watercolor, oil/acrylic, print making, mixed media, collage, and a collaborative group project, as well as pottery, mosaic, textile and photography.

Artwork must be registered & submitted to the Youth Center by Thursday, Feb. 13. All artwork should be framed and ready to hang for presentation, with artists name, age and title of piece appearing on the back. First place winners in each category, in four age groups, are sent on to compete at regional competitions for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Fine Arts Exhibit. Wednesday, Feb. 19

2020 spring mixer open house

Cardinal Creek Golf Course will host a free spring mixer open house beginning at 4 p.m. People can learn about various course programs, such as annual greens fee memberships, leagues, outings, lessons and tournaments. Complimentary food, door prizes, attendance prize drawings and more. Patrons who purchase or renew a 2020 AGF membership by 8 p.m. that day will be entered in the $500 gift card prize drawing.

Any organization that “books” or has “booked” a golf outing by 8 p.m. that night will be entered for a $250 outing credit. Event is open to everyone. Food provided by Olive Garden. The following 375th Force Support Squadron facilities will be in attendance as well: Stars & Strikes Bowling Center, Information Tickets & Travel, and Arts & Crafts Center.

Military teen saves

Youth Programs will host a free military teen saves lecture from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Students can participate in a hands-on event that takes them through the personal financial management process, including career selection, budgeting for housing, transportation, luxuries and more. Saturday, Feb. 22

Princess ball

The Scott Event Center will host a princess ball with doors opening at 5 p.m. Dinner, candy buffet, music, cupcake decorating, princess craft, dancing and dance-floor games. Dinner served at 6 p.m. Dancing, games and crafts to follow. A professional photographer will be available. Open to all ages. Adult/parent must accompany child. Pre-paid admission required: $20/person or $40/couple (purchase tickets from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday through Wednesday, Feb. 19). Youth floor hockey

Youth interested in playing co-ed floor hockey can register at the Scott Youth Center all January. Program open to ages 5-13. All hockey equipment supplied. Fee: $62 (includes team jersey). A current physician approved physical, immunizations, and flu shot are required, and if applicable, an approved Inclusion Action Team Package for special needs.
