Become a licensed Family Child Care provider
Spouses looking for employment can become a licensed FCC provider. At minimal start-up cost, people can operate their own home-based business, set their own hours, be with their own children, and care for other children at home. The FCC staff will train and help individuals provide responsible, safe, in home care for children 2 weeks to 12 years in their government home or affiliated off base home.
Of note, if people live in government privatized housing, and provide child care in their home for more than 10 hours a week on a regular basis, they must be licensed by MSG/CC and the Family Child Care office. This restriction excludes:
- Individuals who occasionally provide care for a friend or neighbor.
- Individuals providing babysitting services on an occasional basis for other families.
- Teenagers doing evening care or weekend babysitting.
- Child care provided in the parent’s own home.
- Parent cooperatives where one of the parents provides supervision for other parents’ children on an exchange and no fees are involved.
- Temporary full time care during a parents’ absence for temporary duty or deployment by the person listed on the AF Form 357, Family Care Plan.
