Youth Baseball Registration
Youth interested in playing co-ed baseball can register at the Scott Youth Center. Program open to ages 5-9. They offer T-ball for 5- to 6-year-olds, and coach pitch for 7- to 9-year-olds. Fee: $62 (includes team jersey). Volunteer coaches needed to run this baseball league. A current physician approved physical, immunizations, and flu shot are required, and if applicable, an approved Inclusion Action Team Package for special needs. March basketball challenge
Calling all basketball players, adults and youth. James Sports Center is hosting a March basketball challenge beginning at noon. Take part in adult events such as a 3-point shootout, obstacle course, dunk contest, free throw contest and half-court shot. First place prize will be awarded for each adult event. There will also be an obstacle course for youth 13 & younger with ribbons for each participant. St. Patrick’s Day 5K Walk/Run
A St. Patrick’s Day 5K Walk/Run will take place at 11:30 a.m. beginning and ending at Warrior Park (across the street from the fire department). It is free for the entire Scott AFB community. Bowling bracket madness tourney
Play in the Stars & Strikes bowling bracket Madness this March. This is a single bowler-double elimination tournament. Bowl two games for seeding, then move on to bracket style play. Guaranteed four games minimum. Players must use 90% of 220 handicap. No handicap? No problem, as people can still bowl a scratch format. Time: 2 p.m. Fee: $35/person. Registration required. 2020 School Age Summer Camp registration
The School Age Summer Camp at the Youth Center is a fun option for youth during the summer months. This camp offers full day care with extracurricular activities for children going into first grade through age 12. Campers will enjoy field trips to various local attractions, as well as local base activities such as swimming. Registration for the public begins Monday, March 16 — open until full.
Parents must register for child care online at MilitaryChildCare.com, https://militarychildcare.com. The program will contact people to complete their registration once their weeks have been confirmed, which takes place at the Youth Center. Registration is based on priority levels. The priority structure for military family types is outlined in the Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) (6060.02), dated August 2014.
Parents can register for the weeks which they need care. Parents not required to register for every week. All reservations are binding, and payment will be required. All children must have completed kindergarten or above before enrolling in summer camp. For more information, call 256-5139.
2020 Pre-Teen Summer Camp registration
Register for the YP Pre-Teen Summer Camp held from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays during the summer months for youth ages 9-13. This camp offers half-day care with extracurricular activities for youth. Field trips will be conducted weekly to local and on-base attractions. Register Monday, March 16 — open until full. Fee: $140/child per week. Weekly fee includes price for field trips, daily breakfast, and lunch on field trip days.
Youth Programs membership is required. Annual program membership is $48/child. Camp begins at 6:30 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m. when open recreation at the Youth Center starts. Youth may bring their own lunch and snacks or purchase from the snack bar. Limited slots are available — sign-up early. A one week reservation payment required by Friday, May 1, to reserve spot. Mobile DMV
The Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles mobile unit will be at the Scott Event Center from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The DMV mobile unit offers basic vehicle services such as driver’s license renewals (including road tests), ID cards and vehicle registration, and is available for the SAFB community every third Wednesday of the month. The mobile DMV cannot process Real IDs at this time. *The mobile DMV accepts all major credit/debit cards, check and money orders; cash is not an accepted payment. Arts & Crafts Center open house
The Arts & Crafts Center will host an open house from 4-8 p.m. This annual event features demonstrations from artists, free refreshments and attendance prizes given away all evening. People can tour the studios, the engraving and custom frame workshops, and the auto hobby shop. Sign up for any of their classes during the open house and receive a 10% discount. SEC DIY series — alcohol ink coasters
The Scott Event Center’s new upcoming event is DIY alcohol ink coasters. DIY kit includes four coasters, instruction and supplies (sizes, colors and designs vary). The St. Louis Cardinals Military Appreciation “Salute to SAFB” Day take place at Busch Stadium. Game time is 1:15 p.m. Tickets on sale now at Information, Tickets & Travel for only $16. Now taking applications for the Air Force Marathon
The Air Force Marathon will take place Thursday, Sept. 17, through Sunday, Sept. 20, at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. Interested athletes may click here to register and apply. Members who are selected may attend in a permissive TDY status as authorized by AFI 36-3003, Military Leave Program. Members selected will receive uniforms and reimbursement for portions of travel, registration fee and lodging. Application deadline is Wednesday, June 3. Registration is now open for the 2020 Air Force Teen Aviation Camp and the Air Force Space Camp. The Aviation Camp will be held Monday, June 15, through Sunday, June 21, at the Air Force Academy and applications are due by Monday, April 6. Two sessions are available for the Air Force Space Camp to be held in Huntsville, Alabama, Sunday, July 19, through Friday, July 24, or Sunday, July 26, through Friday, July 31. 24 hour James Sports Center access now available
Want 24 hour access to the James Sports Center? Stop by the facility during their regular duty hours to get registered for after-hours/24-hour access. 24-hour access is available for both the Warmer Fitness Center and the James Sports Center; however, registration is required for each facility. Lifeguard job openings

Become a licensed Family Child Care provider
Spouses looking for employment can become a licensed FCC provider. At minimal start-up cost, people can operate their own home-based business, set their own hours, be with their own children, and care for other children at home. The FCC staff will train and help individuals provide responsible, safe, in home care for children 2 weeks to 12 years in their government home or affiliated off base home.
Of note, if people live in government privatized housing, and provide child care in their home for more than 10 hours a week on a regular basis, they must be licensed by MSG/CC and the Family Child Care office. This restriction excludes:
- Individuals who occasionally provide care for a friend or neighbor.
- Individuals providing babysitting services on an occasional basis for other families.
- Teenagers doing evening care or weekend babysitting.
- Child care provided in the parent’s own home.
- Parent cooperatives where one of the parents provides supervision for other parents’ children on an exchange and no fees are involved.
- Temporary full time care during a parents’ absence for temporary duty or deployment by the person listed on the AF Form 357, Family Care Plan.
