SCOTT AFB CHAPEL MOVIE EVENT

The Scott AFB Chapel is hosting a viewing of “Woodlawn,” an inspirational film based on the true story of how love and unity overcame hate and division in early 1970s Birmingham, Ala., at 7 p.m. July 29. JULY 30

R4R SINGLE AIRMAN INITIATIVE—POLE POSITION KART RACING

Ready, set, go! Come along with Outdoor Adventure Program July 30 and channel your inner NASCAR racer. Pole Position is an indoor kart racing track with karts reaching up to 45 miles per hour. Race your friends in four heats to decide who will be the ultimate winner. Afterwards, visit Ted Drewe’s Frozen Custard (your cost) for a taste of St. Louis tradition.This event qualifies as a Single Airmen Programming Initiative. Adventure is open to all. Adventure fee: $75/person. SAIP Adventure fee: $15. Fee includes transportation, admission and lunch. Buses will depart Outdoor Recreation, Bldg. 3176, at 10 a.m., returning around 4 p.m. Registration required. Trip strenuous level: 2/5; driving go-kart required. FIRST FRIDAY

Come enjoy First Friday beginning at 3 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Scott Event Center, complete with camaraderie, drink specials, and entertainment. Enjoy free apps and snacks for all.

First Fridays are free and open to all. Festivities are held within Zeppelins Lounge, with apps/snacks being served from 4-6 p.m. in Zeppelins. CATHOLIC RE VOLUNTEER OPORTUNITY

The Scott AFB Chapel Catholic Community is seeking teachers and assistants for the 2016-17 Religious Education program. Teachers prepare a weekly lesson and lead a class from 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. on Sundays. Assistants help the teachers. Materials and training are provided. Teachers must be in good standing with the Catholic Church and have a current installation background check on file. ATTENTION BOWHUNTERS

The 2016/2017 Illinois Archery Deer Season is fast approaching and will be held from Oct. 1 through mid-January 2017. Scott AFB will again participate this season and will have 100 base permits available for sale starting Aug. 15 for a cost of $10. Permits will be sold at Bldg. 755, Room 115. DENTAL SQUADRON SEEKS PATIENTS

The Dental Squadron is seeking patients needing root canals and oral surgery for treatment in the Residency Program. Applicants must meet one or more of the following criteria:

▪ Military retiree

▪ Family member of retiree

▪ Family member of active duty not enrolled in TRICARE Dental

Other conditions may apply. For root canals—call 256-2144; for oral surgery—call 256-7503.

A Lean In Circle has started at Scott. The mentoring group is designed to empower women to achieve their ambitions.
