R4R: FRIDAY NIGHT TWOSOME GOLF CLASSES

Learning to play golf is more fun with a partner. Grab that significant other, a friend, family member, or neighbor and join the Cardinal Creek Golf Course for their two-day Friday Night Twosome Golf Class on Aug. 26. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. each day, the PGA professional staff at Cardinal Creek Golf Course will instruct golfers on various aspects of the golf game. After the lesson, people can take their newly acquired golf skills out on the course for a little twilight golf. Class fee is only $5 per person which covers both sessions (a $50 value). SDDC TO HOST SURFACE WARRIOR CHALLENGE ‘TOUR DE SCOTT’

Military personnel and DoD Civilians are invited to take part in the free Surface Warrior Challenge, “Tour de Scott,” beginning at 7 a.m. Aug. 27 near the Fitness Center/Pool. Event consists of swimming, bicycling and run/walk events. Participants have several courses to choose from in addition to individual or team events. Entry forms are available at the Fitness Center and the James Sports Center. Completed entry forms can be dropped off at the Fitness Center or James Sports Center or emailed to usarmy.scott.sddc.mbx.events@mail.mil. For more information, call 618-220-4972.

CHAPEL BACK TO SCHOOL SUNDAY AND COMMUNITY PICNIC

The Scott AFB Chapel community invites people to see what religious education and volunteer opportunities they have available this year. Only one Catholic mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 28 at Chapel 1, 320 Ward Drive. A combined Protestant Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Library Auditorium. Attendees of both services are invited to stay for a picnic on the chapel grounds. They will start serving food at 11 a.m. For more information, contact the Chapel Team at 375.amw.hc@us.af.mil.

COMMON SENSE PARENTING

The Family Advocacy Program will host a Common Sense Parenting class from 2-4 p.m. Aug. 30 at Airman & Family Readiness Center. This prevention seminar provides parents with effective educational child development information, discipline skills, and helps them develop a more positive parenting experience with their young children from ages 2 to school-age.

BOY SCOUT TROOP 5 MEETING INFORMATION

Recently PCS’d and looking for a troop or have a boy in the sixth grade or higher? Check out Boy Scout Troop 5. Celebrating their 96th year and chartered to the TACC Booster Club, the troop meets from weekly from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Campouts, canoeing, and hiking. Come out and have some fun! VANPOOL SUBSIDY

The monthly vanpool subsidy has been increased to $255. With the subsidy, Scott AFB employees can enjoy a free, relaxing ride to work in a vanpool. There are three vanpools to Scott AFB that leave from St. Charles County and North St. Louis County available for employees to join, or employees can start a new vanpool. VA WORK STUDY EMPLOYMENT

The Scott AFB Education Office is currently accepting applications for VA Work Study. Interested applicants must be using VA benefits—Chapter’s 30, 31, 33, 35, 1606 or 1607—and must be enrolled as full-time or 3/4-time students. Position support a variety of education needs of authorized military members, retirees and their families. Hours are flexible Monday-Friday.
