New Athens man charged with predatory criminal sexual assault

A New Athens man was charged Friday with predatory criminal sexual assault.

Michael Ritz, 65, was charged with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for allegedly performing sexual acts on a minor who is 8.

The case was being investigated by the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department.

Ritz’s bond was set at $500,000.
