Police investigate another shooting at Brooklyn’s Pink Slip strip club
A 26-year old St. Louis man was shot early Wednesday while inside a Brooklyn strip club and died later at a St. Louis hospital from the wounds he sustained in the shooting. The victim was identified as Marques Stewart.
Illinois State Police Lt. Dave Bivens said Brooklyn police received a call at 3:11 a. m. Wednesday to go to the Pink Slip Strip Club on Illinois 3 to investigate a shooting with a man down. Bivens said Brooklyn police responded, but the investigation is being done by Illinois State Police agents, with Elbert Jennings as the lead investigator.
A preliminary investigation revealed that two groups got into an altercation inside the club and the victim was shot, said Bivens. He was transported to a St. Louis hospital where he was pronounced dead, Bivens said. An autopsy will be done on Stewart’s body Thursday, Bivens said. Police have not identified any suspects at this time.
Bivens said investigators are interviewing witnesses and reviewing video tape to try to identify the gunman. No weapon was found at the scene. Bivens said no further details are available at this time.
Anyone with any information that could help solve this homicide is urged to call Jennings at 346-3990 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-371-tips. This is an anonymous tip line that pays up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
This is the second shooting at the club in a little more than a month. On March 6, two people were shot outside of the establishment.
