Investigators on Friday released photos of possible suspects wanted in connection with the armed robbery of an 86-year-old man in his garage on Sunday afternoon near the west side of Belleville.

The possible suspects are considered to be armed and dangerous and may be in the Washington Park or Belleville areas, according to a news release from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department. The surveillance photos show the possible suspects inside area businesses. They appear to be using an ATM in one photo.

The victim told deputies that he had pulled his vehicle into his garage on Gerold Lane off Foley Drive when two men approached him about 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the victim while the other suspect forced him onto the garage floor and demanded his money. Investigators have not released the items stolen from the victim, who declined medical treatment.

The two suspects are described as black males 18 to 20 years old. One of the suspects may have been wearing a dark green, button-up type jacket. They may have left in a black, two-door car with a loud exhaust.

Photos of two possible getaway vehicles were released. One shows a two-door car with a sun roof and a possible bullet hole in the body of car above the driver’s side rear wheel. This car is dark blue or black and may be a Pontiac Grand Prix from the early 2000s.

The other car has four doors and may be a Toyota Avalon. It is either silver or light blue and is missing the driver’s side headlight.

Anyone with information about the suspects or getaway vehicle is asked to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department at 618-277-3504.
