An SIUE student has been suspended from the campus amid allegations she was selling fake IDs.

Peyton Roehnelt, 19, has been charged with one count each of manufacturing and possessing a fraudulent ID card. SIUE Police Chief Kevin Schmoll told the Edwardsville Intelligencer that Roehnelt was cooperating with the investigation.

Roehnelt was on the SIUE women’s soccer team, and a teammate was pulled over in Kansas and charged with DUI. The teammate told police she had bought her fake ID from Roehnelt, according to the Intelligencer, and the investigation alleges that she had sold about 30 fake IDs over the past year.

Roehnelt has been removed from the soccer team and suspended from SIUE during the investigation. A freshman from Metamora, Roehnelt played for her high school team and won three conference titles before coming to SIUE, and was a mechanical engineering major.

Sometimes the “perfect crime” doesn't quite play out as intended. Here are some criminals who could use some practice.
