Duo seeking directions robs Fairview Heights man

Fairview Heights police were searching for two men who robbed another man in broad daylight Friday under the pretense that they needed directions.

According to a statement from police, two black men in a silver or tan Cadillac SRX crossover pulled up in front of a home to ask a man who was in his front yard for directions shortly before 11 a.m. After giving the men directions, the victim told police one of the men displayed a handgun and robbed him.

Police have learned the suspects followed the victim home from the Phillips 66 station, 8805 Maple Ave., in Caseyville, the statement said. The suspect’s vehicle is missing its driver-side quarter panel and is equipped with a black front bumper protector.
