Belleville man gets 15 years for Circle K robbery
A Belleville man was sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison for robbing a Circle K Gas station in 2014, according to U.S. Attorney Stephen Wigginton.
On July 24, 2014, Patrick S. McGuire, 49, went into the Circle K at 421 S. Belt East in Belleville, with a plastic bag over his head and plastic bag covering a pointed object over his hand and demanded money from the store clerk, according to Wigginton’s office.
McGuire, who was on probation for less than two weeks for a 2013 robbery, took about $60 from the Circle K.
McGuire has 14 previous felony convictions and more than 30 misdemeanor convictions.
Federal Judge Nancy J. Rosenstengel called McGuire’s criminal history “the most extensive criminal history I have seen.”
“I don’t think I’ve seen a case where there’s a stronger need to protect the public,” Rosenstengel said.
