The 26-year-old man who police said set three fires in just over an hour in Belleville late last year pleaded guilty to arson charges and was sentenced to six and a half years in prison Tuesday.

According to a statement from St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly, Aaron J. Eldredge of Swansea entered guilty pleas to charges that he set fire to a car parked in the 800 block of West A Street shortly after 6 a.m. December 9, 2014, to a home in the 1800 block of West Main St. about 40 minutes later and to the gas meter outside a home in the 2700 block of Godfrey Street around 7:20 a.m.

Evidence at the scenes of the arsons and footage captured by a surveillance camera of a business near one of the scenes led investigators to Eldredge.
