Belleville man sentenced to 12 years for sexually assaulting a minor

BELLEVILLE A Belleville man was sentenced Wednesday to 12 years in prison for sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13.

Jairo A. Ruiz committed a sex act with a minor female, a class X felony. The crime happened in Belleville, authorities said.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Amanda Fischer. Ruiz was sentenced by Circuit Judge John Baricevic.
