Man with knife took whole cash drawer during Belleville gas station robbery, police say
A man armed with a knife took the whole cash drawer during a robbery at a Belleville convenience store Monday.
The robbery happened at about 11 p.m. at the ZX gas station at 7406 West Main St.
Surveillance video showed the man enter the store and buy cigarettes. Minutes later, he entered the store again and confronted the clerk with a knife, police said.
The robber demanded the store’s cash drawer, and the clerk complied, police said.
The suspect fled toward South 75th Street.
The man wore a distinctive shirt with an image of a face on the front.
