Police are trying to determine who called in a bomb threat to a Collinsville bank Thursday afternoon.

Collinsville Police Department Lt. Brett Boerm said FCB Collinsville Bank received an anonymous phone call shortly before 2 p.m. and notified police. After an hourlong search, no bomb was found.

“We did a surveillance of the exterior of the building,” he said. “Nothing appeared suspicious.”

The bank, located on the Beltline at Keebler Avenue, was evacuated and about 40 people were outside the bank in the parking lot as police searched the interior.

Customers and employees were permitted back inside the bank about 3 p.m. Bank management declined to comment about the threat, but it appeared normal operations had resumed.

Anyone with information about the threat can reach the Collinsville Police Department at 618-344-2131.
