Authorities say a man working as a massage therapist at an Edwardsville massage parlor went too far.

A Litchfield man has been charged in connection with a sexual assault that allegedly took place at Massage Luxe on April 30.

Ronnie L. Blom, 55, is facing two counts of criminal sexual assault. Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons filed the charges Wednesday.

Gibbons said Blom was taken into custody Wednesday evening. Blom was being held Thursday at Madison County Jail on $100,000 bond.

According to the charges, the suspect, a massage therapist at Massage Luxe in Edwardsville, assaulted a 42-year-old woman during an afternoon massage. The charges are class 1 felonies, carrying a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

Gibbons said the business has cooperated fully with the investigation, which was conducted by Edwardsville Police.

Massage Luxe’s website says all therapists are board-certified; a representative from the company did not return a call. The manager at the Edwardsville location could not provide comment.

The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork has Blom listed on its website, but it was unclear if he is board-certified with that organization.
