A 22-year-old East St. Louis woman told police she was forced out of the car she was riding in and shot in the hip Wednesday night at 50th and State streets in East St. Louis.
Police said they were called to the area at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday to investigate the woman’s report that she was riding in a black car with her kids and a man she said she didn’t know. She told police the man kicked her out of the car and then shot her.
“She told police that the unknown subject pulled over real fast and told her to get out. And then he shot her in her left hip,” East St. Louis police Chief Jerry Simon said. “Then, the unknown man, according to the woman, pulled her kids out of the vehicle and drove off.”
The woman told police she believed the car was a rental.
