Man charged with murdering brothers in knife attack

Authorities charged a 28-year-old Rockbridge man with two counts of first degree murder in the slaying of two brothers during an altercation Sunday night.

Adam J. Gowin is being held on a $2.5 million bail and remained in the custody of the Greene County jail on Wednesday morning, according to a news releas.e

He is accused of stabbing to death 54-year-old Billy Plummer and 55-year-old Ronald Plummer, who were brothers from Rockbridge.

Gowin was arrested in Macoupin County shortly after the stabbing, which occurred at 10:38 p.m. Sunday, police previously said.

The three men knew each other prior to the stabbing, according to police.

Illinois State Police investigated the stabbing.

Police in the United Kingdom disarmed a man who attempted to attack an officer and who witnesses said attempted to attack people nearby with two butcher knives. The man was sentenced four years in prison for the attack.
