Man charged with murdering brothers in knife attack

Authorities charged a 28-year-old Rockbridge man with two counts of first degree murder in the slaying of two brothers during an altercation Sunday night.

Adam J. Gowin is being held on a $2.5 million bail and remained in the custody of the Greene County jail on Wednesday morning, according to a news releas.e

He is accused of stabbing to death 54-year-old Billy Plummer and 55-year-old Ronald Plummer, who were brothers from Rockbridge.

Gowin was arrested in Macoupin County shortly after the stabbing, which occurred at 10:38 p.m. Sunday, police previously said.

The three men knew each other prior to the stabbing, according to police.

Illinois State Police investigated the stabbing.
