An East St. Louis man picked up a hammer and hit his brother on the head last week, police said.

Adrienne F. Lofton, 20, of East St. Louis, is facing four counts including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Fairview Heights police say Lofton used a wooden-handled claw hammer to strike Caleb Lofton on the head on Sept. 11. Other charges allege that Adrienne Lofton bit his brother and put him in a choke-hold. Court documents show Adrienne Lofton has an East St. Louis address but do not say where the alleged attack took place.

Adrienne Lofton remained in St. Clair County Jail on $30,000 bail on three counts of domestic battery and one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Caleb Lofton’s condition was not immediately available on Monday afternoon.
