Man allegedly hit with brass knuckles during fight near Belleville; 2 men arrested
Two men were arrested over the weekend after police say a fight broke out at a home near Belleville.
A 30-year-old man was hit at least once in the face with brass knuckles during the altercation, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Bruce Fleshren said.
Deputies say they found a group of people had been drinking at the house when several people began arguing. Two men and the 30-year-old resident of the home began to fight, deputies say. The 30-year-old man was struck several times in the face, allegedly with a pair of brass knuckles at least once.
Police arrested 18-year-old Joshua P. Garrett of Freeburg and 19-year-old Robert A. Hock Jr. of Fayetteville. They were in the St. Clair County jail Monday afternoon. They were both charged with mob action, a Class4 felony.
Garret’s bail was set at $10,000 and Hock’s was set at $30,000.
The 30-year-old resident suffered a gash to his face and was taken to St. Louis University Hospital, Fleshren said.
