An East St. Louis man faces multiple charges after police say he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house and chased her daughter around with a knife.

Decarlos J. Garner, 45, was charged with four counts in St. Clair County on Monday, East St. Louis police said in a Facebook post. He faces two felony charges of home invasion and criminal trespassing and two misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and aggravated assault.

On Saturday, a woman who lives in the 400 block of Wimmer Place called police to report that her ex-boyfriend had climbed into her home through her bedroom window, the post stated. The woman told police that the man got angry when he saw her calling police and began to chase her young daughter around the house with a knife.

When police arrived, they saw a man running from the apartment, the post stated. They arrested Garner after they found him hiding in an apartment building nearby, the post stated.

Garner’s bond was set at $75,000.
