St. Louis biker charged with beating woman at motel

A 48-year-old Cahokia man has been charged with aggravated battery after a 32-year-old St. Louis woman told police that he beat and choked her at an Alorton motel after she tried to break up with him.

Robert L. Ray is a known member of “Sin City Bikers,” a St. Louis motorcycle group, police said. His bond was set at $40,000.

Alorton police said Ray left the motel before police arrived. The incident happened just after 1 a.m. on Nov. 28.

Police are familiar with Ray because he has an extensive criminal history, Alorton Sgt. Marcus Smith said.
