13-year-old charged in shooting death of another teen

A 13-year-old boy has been charged in connection to the shooting death of a 15-year-old Oct. 26 in the 300 block of Sauget Street in Cahokia.

Since the boy is underage authorities are not releasing his name or many details surrounding the case. The 13-year-old has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and unlawful use of a weapon St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly said.

The case will be heard in January, Kelly confirmed.

Police say the 13-year-old boy knew the 15-year-old.

Cahokia Police Chief Dave Landmann when police were called to the shooting the 15-year-old, from Florissant, Missouri, had already been taken to Touchette Regional Hospital in a a car. He later died at the hospital.

Cahokia police arrested the 13-year old on Dec. 6, Landmann said.
