Student lights firecrackers at Belleville East, school says it’s investigating

Belleville East High School administration is in the process of identifying a student who lit off fireworks in an open courtyard at the middle of campus.

Principal Josh Lane sent an automated phone messge out to East parents on Wednesday, informing them that around 3 p.m. that day, someone had lit the firecrackers.

Lane said that there were no weapons, no injuries and that no students were ever in danger during the incident. He also said that the school had security cameras in place and is investigating who was responsible for the incident.

“Be assured we will take appropriate action as student safety will always be our top priority,” he said.
