Police searching for three women who stole from Academy Sports, pepper sprayed employee

Police are looking for three women they say stole clothing from Academy Sports store in O’Fallon and pepper sprayed an employee who asked them to stop.

O’Fallon police responded to the business at 1574 W. Highway 50 on Wednesday for a report of a retail theft, a news release from the department stated. Employees told police that three people had left with armfuls of clothing and that one of them had pepper sprayed an employee before all three ran out.

Once outside, the suspects entered a vehicle and fled the scene, police said. Police released surveillance video footage of the three suspects.

They are described as:

  • a black female, medium build, with a blonde ponytail, wearing a black and blue long-sleeved “Bleed Blue” shirt, denim jacket, black pants, black head cover and black shoes
  • a black female, medium build, with long hair, wearing a black shirt, a yellow jacket, gray pants and flip-flop sandals
  • a black female, medium build, with shoulder-length hair, wearing a long-sleeved blue shirt, denim jacket, black pants with a stripe down the side and flip-flop sandals

Anyone with information can call the O’Fallon Police Department at 618-624-4545.
