Woman abducts son, flees to Oklahoma, Swansea police say

An Oklahoma woman is facing charges in St. Clair County after police say she abducted her son from his father in Swansea and took him south with her for 20 days.

Patricia R.E. Wyble, 33, of Mustang, was charged with one count of child abduction on Oct. 15.

According to Swansea Police Chief Steven Johnson, Wyble had an agreed visitation with her 16-year-old son on Sept. 28 in Swansea, where he lives with his father and Wyble’s ex-husband.

Officers were dispatched to the father’s house that evening when Wyble and her son failed to return, Johnson said. The father told police she had driven their son back to Mustang with her.

Police made several attempts to contact Wyble, but they were unsuccessful, Johnson said. The department turned the information over to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office on Sept. 30, which issued a warrant for her arrest.

On Oct. 18, the son was reunited with his father in Swansea and Wyble was taken into police custody, Johnson said. Her bail was $25,000. According to Canadian County Sheriff’s Department records, Wyble was no longer in police custody on Monday.
