Two teens — a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old — were shot late Thursday night in East St. Louis, police say.

Police said both of the teens were in good condition and talking Friday morning. Police did not release their identities.

The shootings happened at the Roosevelt Homes housing complex on North 44th Street.

East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Floore said police received a call about 10 p.m. about shots fired.

When police arrived, “they found two juvenile males from two different buildings there who were shot,” Floore said.

The teens were taken to a St. Louis hospital.

Floore said police were looking for a shooter or shooters.

“We are interviewing witnesses in the area in hopes of developing our suspect or suspects,” Floore said. “We have identified two individuals who we would like to question.”

Floore said it’s unclear what prompted the shootings.

He asked that anyone with information call the East St. Louis Police Department at 482-6767.
