Police: Shiloh homeowner wanted exterminator, got jewelry thief

A Belleville man has been charged with two felony counts of theft after he allegedly stole jewelry from a Shiloh home where he was working as an exterminator.

According to Shiloh Police Department reports, Roy R. Prather, 44, of the 800 block of Centreville Avenue, was at a home in Shiloh where he was supposed to be conducting a pest inspection. Instead, investigators say he swiped $5,000 worth of jewelry from the home owner.

Prather was charged Thursday with two counts of theft, subsequent offense, both class 4 Felonies.

He was being held in the St. Clair County Jail on $50,000 bail.
