Belleville man charged with grooming, solicitation after trying to meet teen, police say

A Belleville man has been charged with grooming and indecent solicitation of a child after police say he tried to meet up with a 14-year-old girl in Caseyville for sex acts.

Kani D. Wiley, 22, was charged on Nov. 26 in St. Clair County Court. According to the charging documents against him, Wiley used Snapchat to communicate with the girl from Aug. 9 to Sept. 13.

The documents state that Wiley had arranged to meet the girl “to commit the offense of aggravated criminal sexual abuse” sometime between those dates. It is unknown if the two met before the charges were brought.

A spokesperson for the Caseyville Police Department could not be reached for comment.
