Man delivering Chinese food in Belleville was punched, robbed at gunpoint, police say

Belleville police are looking for two men they say used guns in the robbery of a delivery driver Tuesday night.

At 8:15 p.m., police were called to the 300 block of West I Street for a report of an armed robbery, the department said in a news release Wednesday.

There, a local Chinese food restaurant delivery driver told police that two men approached him while he was attempting to make a delivery to a home there. According to the release, the driver said the men approached him and pointed handguns at him before punching him.

The men took personal property and cash from the delivery driver, then fled on foot, the release stated. The man was treated for minor injuries.

One of the suspects is described as a black man with a slim build, approximately 6 feet tall, in his late teens to early 20s, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt. The other was a black man with a slim build in his late teens to early 20s wearing dark-colored clothing, the driver told police.

Anyone with information can call the Belleville Police Department at 618-234-1212 or Crimestoppers at 866-371-8477.
