Cahokia Police looking for burglars who fired shots at home owner
Police are looking for the two men who burglarized a Cahokia house during the early morning hours Monday then shot into the home owners car when he surprised them in his driveway.
The 52-year old resident of the 400 block of Plum was not home as the burglars entered his house. But, said Cahokia Police Chief David Landmann, “he came home and noticed a vehicle in his driveway.”
Police received his call at about 1:57 a.m. That’s about when the two men exited the house and found the home owner pulling up into his driveway.
“They fired a couple of shots at his car. He was not injured,” Landmann said. “The got into a newer model Chevrolet and drove off.”
Landmann said police do not believe the suspects and home owner were acquainted.
Anyone with any information regarding this crime is urged to call the Cahokia Police Department at 337-9505.
A similar incident occured in Belleville on Jan. 7. The home owner at Leo Drive suffered non-life-threatening wounds after he surprised two would-be thieves on his driveay looking into his cars. The two suspects, who escaped in a “small white vehicle” were described only as black males with hoodies.
