Illinois State Police investigating after Belleville man killed in hit-and-run

A Belleville man was killed in a hit-and-run in the early morning hours Tuesday.

The St. Clair County coroner office identified Craig L. Boone, 39, of Belleville, as the victim.

Illinois State Police were dispatched to eastbound St. Clair Avenue at the Illinois 157 intersection at about 12:50 a.m. Tuesday on the report of a man laying on the shoulder, according to a release.

Troopers say Boone was struck by a car, which then fled the scene. The investigation is on-going, as is the search for the driver of the vehicle, state police trooper Josh Korando in the release.

State Police are asking anyone with any information pertaining to this incident to call Trooper Theodore Tebbe at 618-315-7307.
