Major Case Squad activated following shooting near Collinsville hotel

The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has been activated to investigate the death of a man who had wandered into a Collinsville hotel with a gunshot wound.

Devin T. Judd, 23, of Lenzburg, was taken by the Collinsville Fire Department from the Hampton Inn at 7 Commerce Drive to St. Louis University Hospital at about 11:20 p.m. Sunday, according to a press release.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, surveillance cameras captured video of Judd staggering into the lobby of the hotel and of the front-desk clerk calling 911 for help. Collinsville Police would not confirm.

Collinsville Police called for assistance from the Major Case Squad, which has 20 investigators following “numerous leads,” according to a press release. Police are not releasing any other information as the investigation continues.
