Woman found badly beaten near Belleville park told police she knows her attacker

Police are looking for the person a badly injured woman said attacked her in a Belleville park Sunday.

Officers were dispatched to a MetroLink Bridge near North End Park at about 8:25 a.m. When they arrived, they found the woman badly beaten by the side of the road, said Belleville Police Lt. Todd Keilbach.

She was airlifted by Arch Helicopter to a St. Louis hospital, according to police, but not before telling officers who inflicted her injuries.

Police are in the preliminary stages of their investigation and are releasing no other information.

“The preliminary investigation indicates this was not a random act. The victim told officers on scene she knew who caused her injuries,” Keilbach said.

Belleville police want anyone with any information about this incident to call the police department at 234-1212.
