A second person of interest has been arrested in connection with the shooting of five vehicles on Freedom Drive in Belleville and a prosecutor is reviewing the case, police said Sunday.
The names of the two men have not been released because they have not been charged.
Detective Sgt. Mark Heffernan said police are still investigating the case but officers are not actively searching for another person of interest.
One man was taken into custody Saturday morning and the other on Saturday afternoon. The police reports were turned over to an assistant state’s attorney on Sunday afternoon.
Heffernan said he expected to have more information to release on Monday.
Five vehicles were hit with bullets early Saturday morning in the 200 block of Freedom Drive. No injuries have been reported.
Heffernan said he could not comment on any motive for the shooting.
Heffernan said investigators still want anyone with information about the shooting to call the Belleville Police Department at 618-234-1212.
