Two charged in Brooklyn apartment complex fight that was subject of viral video

Two people have been charged in connection with a recent fight at the Thomas Terry apartments in Brooklyn.

Video of the fight went viral in social media and was published online by a British tabloid, prompting the Brooklyn Police Department to investigate.

Tyreiel N. Brown, 19, of the 5700 block of Portland Place in Washington Park, was charged by the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s’ office with two counts of aggravated battery in a public place. A second person, Chelsey A. Gordon, 19, was also charged with two counts of aggravated battery in a public place.

The pair also was charged with two counts of mob action with force by two or more people.

Brown and Gordon were charged because they “knowingly, by the use of force or violence, disturbed the public peace when they acted together with a juvenile male and struck and kicked Chelsea Bryant about her body,” according to the charging document.

The disturbing video showed the two suspects punching, kicking and pulling Bryant’s hair. A juvenile male joined in on the melee and kicks a small child in the face before stomping Bryant.

Brown and Gordon are both being held at the St. Clair County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

The State’s Attorney’s office could not discuss charges regarding the juvenile or any thing related to the juvenile because of his age.

Due to its graphic nature, the Belleville News-Democrat has elected to not publish the video at bnd.com.
