Shooting in Washington Park leaves man in critical condition

A 40-year old man is in critical condition at a St. Louis hospital after being shot in Washington Park early Tuesday morning.

Police have not made any arrests.

Washington Park Police Chief Allen Bonds said police we’re dispatched to 48th Street at Caseyville Avenue after a caller reported at 12:39 a.m. that shots had been fired and a man was hit.

”When officers arrived on scene, they found a female standing over a man who had sustained gun shot wounds,’ Bonds said.

The wounded man and the female had been waking on 48th Street. Three unknown male suspects came from behind a vacant building and started shooting, Bonds said. The suspects fled south on 48th Street.

The victim, who Bonds did not identify is in critical but stable condition, Bonds said.
