Teen arrested after stabbing 14-year-old during fight in East St. Louis, police say

A 14-year-old boy was stabbed by another juvenile after the pair got into a fight Thursday, East St. Louis Police said.

Few details are available due to the ages of the boys involved.

East St. Louis Police Sgt. Cantrell Patterson confirmed that police were dispatched to the 700 block of North 39th Street in reference to a stabbing. Once at the scene, officers located the wounded juvenile, who was taken to a St. Louis hospital for treatment of his wound, Patterson said.

The perpetrator, a 17-year-old, was taken to the East St. Louis Police Department, Patterson said.

The investigation is ongoing, Patterson said.
