Two shot, one dead in East St. Louis shooting
Two people were shot , one fatally, in a shooting in East St. Louis Thursday night.
Police have no suspects.
Cantrell Patterson, commander of investigation, said police were dispatched to 25th and Natalie at 9:56 p.m. after receiving reports of that a man had been shot.
At the scene, police located the victim laying on the ground in the 2500 block of Natalie Avenue. A witness told police he and one of the victims had been sitting outside in front of a residence having some drinks when they heard several gunshots.
The two individuals were struck by bullets. One man was taken to an area hospital in a personal vehicle. The other man was taken by ambulance to St. Louis University Hospital where he later died, Patterson said.
The condition of the other man has not been released, though he survived. No identity of the deceased man was provided by police and individuals with the St. Louis Medical Examiner’s office could not be reached.
Patterson said, “We do not have any suspects at this time. We have not located any witnesses to the shooting. And, the individuals we did talk to had no information to provide”.
Several shell casings from a 9mm and a .40 caliber handgun were located at the scene, he said.
The man’s death marks the 22nd homicide in East St. Louis this year.
