Lebanon man struck, killed wife trying to leave bar parking lot, police say
A man accused of drunkenly running over his wife with his truck Saturday night was attempting to leave a bar, Lebanon police said Tuesday.
Teddy R. Weil, 62, faces two counts of aggravated DUI: one in connection with the death of his wife, Donna J. Weil, and one in connection with the “great bodily harm” of another woman, Pauline Ketrow. He was charged Monday in St. Clair County Court.
According to Lebanon Police Chief David Roth, Weil had been leaving a bar when he got into his Ford F-150 pickup just before 11 p.m. on Saturday. The accident occurred in a parking lot in the area of Pearl Street and St. Louis Street, he said.
The two women were trapped underneath the truck and rushed to a hospital after Lebanon-Emerald Fire Department and MedStar Ambulance responders arrived, a news release from the police department said.
Weil died from her injuries at the hopsital, while Ketrow remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
St. Clair County State’s Attorney James Gomric’s Office said Weil’s blood alcohol level was above the legal limit at the time of the incident, but prosecutors did not specify how much.
