Police investigating weekend murder of 66-year-old East St. Louis man
A 66-year-old man was shot to death in the 700 block of N. 74th Street on Saturday.
St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye, Sr. identified the victim as Ordell Gilliam of N. 74th Street. Gilliam was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m.
East St. Louis Police Chief Kendall Perry said the shooting was reported around 4:25 p.m.
Perry said police do not know a motive for the shooting.
He said East St. Louis requested assistance from Illinois State Police. Both agencies are investigating.
Residents in the area said authorities collected multiple shell casings from the street.
