Two hurt in Breese shooting, one person arrested, police say

A suspect is in custody after two were injured in a shooting, the Breese Police Department announced Tuesday.

One of those shot was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital. That person’s condition is not available. The other was treated at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese and released.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, was being held in the Clinton County Jail pending charges from the state’s attorney’s office.

Breese Police Chief Bob Fix said the department received call at 4:58 p.m. Monday about multiple shots being fired but the department believes only one shot was fired.

The shooting occurred at 407 N. 13th St., Fix said in the news release. Officer Curt Weh arrested the suspect at 5:09 p.m. Monday.

Other details about the shooting such as a motive were not released.
