Police: Caseyville gas station robbed at gunpoint

An armed masked man robbed the Caseyville BP station on Raukman Road early Wednesday morning. No one was injured.

Caseyville Police Chief Frank Moore hopes the video that captured the robber pointing a gun at the clerk will lead them to the suspect.

He said Caseyville police were called to the station at 2:10 a.m. Wednesday.

“(The suspect) waited behind some shelves in the store until the clerk, who was not at the cash register, returned to the register,” Moore said. “Then he displayed some type of small framed automatic handgun and demanded cash from the clerk.”

The clerk was ordered onto the floor, according to police. The robber took the money and fled from the store, Moore said.

Police believe a vehicle was waiting nearby. The armed robber had his face covered with something white, Moore said, and was wearing a hoodie to cover his head.

Anyone with any information about the robbery is asked to contact Caseyville Police Department at 277-3500.
