Fayetteville man charged with sexually abusing 14-year-old girl

A 20-year-old Fayetteville man has been charged with sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl and was turned in by his girlfriend, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department.

Brandon M. Collins, 20, was charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony.

The incident occurred on Third Street in Fayetteville, said Capt. Scott Weymouth. He declined to disclose details of the crime, given the age of the victim.

Weymouth did say Collins is not a family member of the victim.

Collins was arrested Friday by police at his home in Fayetteville. He remains in St. Clair County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.

If convicted, Collins faces between three and seven years in prison.
