Two Randolph County men arrested for allegedly stealing from a Prairie Du Rocher barn
A joint investigation between the Monroe County and Randolph County sheriff’s departments has led to the arrest of two Modoc men police say allegedly stole from a barn in Prairie Du Rocher.
In a statement, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department said Frankie I. Key, 21, and Devon E. Mandrell, 23 , were both charged with burglary after being arrested Thursday by the two departments and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force.
Police said on Saturday, Oct. 16, Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 5900 block of Faust Rd. in Prairie Du Rocher for a reported burglary. Deputies were told several items had been stolen from a barn on the property.
During the course of the investigation, several stolen items were recovered and a person of interest was identified in the case, according to police. On Thursday, Mandrell and Key were arrested at the suspects’ residence located on the 6500 block of Simpson Street in Modoc. More stolen items were recovered during a search of the residence.
Mandrell and Key were both additionally charged with theft of items ranging from $500 to $10,000. The pair are each being held on $75,000 bonds at Monroe County Jail.
Police said Mandrell is currently on parole after being released from prison six months ago for a home invasion conviction. Key was on probation for possession of a controlled substance conviction.
Investigators are still searching for a yellow hay bale spear the suspect sold and ask anyone who may have purchased the item to call 618-939-8651 so it can be returned to its owner.
