Man shot to death in Sauget nightclub parking lot, police say

A 41-year-old St. Louis man was fatally shot Saturday morning on the parking lot of Pop’s nightclub in Sauget, police said.

St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. identified the victim as Dean J. Ebert of Kramer Street in St. Louis.

Sauget Police Chief James Jones said his department has requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis to take over the homicide investigation.

Jones said police received a call at 8:10 a.m. reporting shots fired in the 1400 block of Mississippi Avenue.

“When officers arrived on scene, they located a (man) suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest,” Jones said. “CPR was administered on scene. A short time later the subject passed away.”

Dye said Ebert was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:50 a.m.

No arrests have been announced in connection with this shooting.
