At least one dead, three injured after East St. Louis shooting. Here’s what we know

At least one person is dead and three others were injured after a shooting in East St. Louis on Wednesday.

Officers were sent to the intersection of 83rd Street and State Street about 4:39 p.m., according to East St. Louis Police.

One person is confirmed dead, according to Illinois State Police.

St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. identified the victim as Cornelius Eiland, 25, of the 8200 block of St. Phillip, East St. Louis. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:14 p.m., Dye said.

A second person was airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital with serious injuries, and two others were taken to local hospitals, state police said. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

The Illinois State Police Public Safety Enforcement Group is investigating.
