UPDATE 6:05 p.m. on 5/16/22 - Additional information from Shiloh police has been added.

Shiloh police are asking the public for information about a shooting that occurred after officers broke up a large party Saturday night since few of the more than 100 people were were at the scene are cooperating.

Capt. Jesse Phillips said officers from Shiloh and O’Fallon were dispatched at about 11:33 p.m. to the 3500 block of Barton Drive in Shiloh, where a crowd had gathered for a party. Residents in the area estimated the crowd at anywhere between 100 and 300 people and complained that there were fights and that vehicles were driving through yards.

When police arrived, multiple vehicles scattered at a high rate of speed, Phillips said.

“Eventually shots were fired,’’ he said.

According to a release issued late Monday by the Shiloh Police Department, an unoccupied vehicle was located that had been involved in a minor traffic accident and had visible damage from being struck by a bullet. The driver has since been identified and has met with investigators but has not provided a statement.

It was later learned that gunshots were fired from a moving light-colored passenger car that was actively chasing another darker-colored vehicle through the neighborhood, away from the party, according to police.

Apart from the abandoned car, there have been no reports of anyone being struck by the gunfire.

At about 12:16 a.m., officers were dispatched to the MotoMart at 1790 Frank Scott Parkway for what was initially and incorrectly reported to be a shooting. There was evidence of multiple physical altercations at the MotoMart, police said.

No one interviewed at either scene said they were a victim.

“It should be noted that there was an overall lack of cooperation from a majority of the individuals at both locations,” according to a release.

Police are still investigating the incidents and are asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information is asked to call Shiloh Police at 618-632-9047.
