Southern Illinois infant died with skull fractures. His parents are charged with murder.
The parents of a 3-month-old baby boy have been arrested and charged with his murder.
Logan Hutchings and Sophia Kelly, both 21 and of Pinckneyville, were charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the child’s death Tuesday, Illinois State Police announced.
On June 12, 2022, state police were contacted by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and Pinckneyville Police to investigate the injuries sustained by the infant. The boy had been admitted to a St. Louis hospital with a skull fracture and multiple fractures to his ribs.
The baby died two days later.
Hutchings and Kelly were taken into custody by state police agents and transported to the Washington County Jail on $1 million bond.
State police investigators were assisted by DCFS, ISP Crime Scene Services, Pinckneyville Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Department and the Appellate Prosecutors Office.
